If you’re considering buying custom dress shirts, one phrase you hear a lot is “made-to-measure” or “Bespoke”. And if you haven’t tried it you may be wondering what all the fuss is about. Made-to-measure is sort of a middle spot between off-the-rack and fully custom. You get many of the benefits of something being made to your actual measurements without the big price tag of something that’s fully “bespoke.”
In this article, I will share my Bespoke experience and tell you why I highly recommend it!
First, it’s the amount of choices you have to customize the shirts. You start by picking the fabric which is one of the hardest thing to do as you have to imaging how the shirt will look like. It’s also one of the coolest experience!
Then you can choose the type of collar, cuffs, buttons, quantity of buttons, the color of the thread and the length of the shirt. These options will help you get exactly the shirt you want and how you want it.
Once the standard stuff is done, now you can customize it by adding your initials, removing or adding tags and the color of buttons you want.
Once all the details are noted, the tailor then takes your measurements. I made my shirts slightly bigger on my arms since I’m planning to gain muscle mass. I also made my left arm cuff slightly larger to accommodate a watch! No I have no issues with my dress shirt and the fitment when I wear a watch!
All this add up to the experience and make it so damn good! There’s nothing better than to have a dress shirt that fits you perfectly!
The only negative is the price. Depending on what you choose for material, the price may add up quickly. My shirts cost me anywhere between $350-$500 for each!
All in all, I highly recommend having at least one Bespoke Dress shirt in your wardrobe to be used in special occasions!
