So after purchasing the Boda Skins Kay Micheals Winter Sherling, I just fell in love with the brand, the quality, the workmanship and the fit. I convinced myself that I needed a second leather jacket that I can wear for the summer and on cool night. More of a cafe racer style, simple design and with the same quality.
I received an email from Boda Skins saying that they’re having a private sale and when I checked it out, the had the discontinued model the Maverick on sale! That sold me and I purchased it!
The Maverick was about $150 cheaper than the Kay Micheals and it took about two weeks to get delivered. Since this jacket was going to be used in summer and I’m not planning to layer it, I went with a size Medium. The Kay Micheals was a size large and it fit very snug with a sweater but a little loose with a t-shirt after breaking it in.
After researching the web about the fit, and watching all youtube video saying that you should size down, size Medium was the logical choice.
First thing I noticed when I was unboxing the Maverick was the leather is a lot softer than the Kay Micheals, I’m not sure why, they claim that they use the same type of leather. Either way, that really impressed me.
The quality was typical Boda Skin, very refined and the attention to detail is unsurpassed. The stitching is amazing and the overall look of the jacket is great.
The fit is a little too tight for my liking. I know it should probably fit this way but I really struggle to put this jacket on. Nothing too serious but I think I should have when with a size large.
I feel a lot of restriction in my elbow area due to the patching and it feels tight around the shoulders. Considering that I’m planning to work out more and gain about 10 lbs of muscle from here to summer, I’m really worried about this fit. At this point, I hope that the jacket will break in and will be more comfortable in the future.
Overall, this jacket will serve its purpose and I’m happy with the purchase. If the break in process won’t solve the issue of the fit, I may have to sell it. Only time will tell.
